120. My Journey so far as an STM TEE student… 3. My third module - Intro to Christian Ethics
April 2018 came, and I registered for my third course, Christian Ethics.
By coincidence, my local banker's association required us to renew our CPD hours, and one of the mandatory e-learning courses we were required to take was one of Ethics, at the workplace of course.
This made April 2018 a month when I spent many hours thinking about right and wrong.
Very mind draining and energy sapping as I learnt ethics from a secular business point of view and from a Christian faith perspective.
Many similarities and also many differences
What I learnt from my third module: Christian Ethics
A lot of ethics studies is about how one defines stuff;
Ethics is about theory, but doing the right thing is about life.
It is easy to discuss, but super hard to make decisions when the time comes.
But that does not mean that we should not discuss, we should
Because, when the time comes, all the prior discussions come into play
The more one has thought through some issues, the more positioned one can be to make better decisions
Note: This course was super confusing at the start, but the more I read, the more I realised that there are so much more out there. We mustn't do ethics in isolation, but in community, for at the end, we live life in community. Ethics is not required if we stay on a desert island on our own.
